앞전에 소개한 적이 있는 베두인 사운드클래쉬(Bedouin Soundclash)의 첫번째 공식인 앨범 루트 파이어(Root Fire)를 소개한다. 캐다나의 루트레게 밴드가 들려주는 이 앨범은 2001년에 제작되었고, 지금 들어도 손색없는 퀄리티를 보인다. 최근에는 솔로 활동도 보이고 있는 보컬 Jay Malinowski 의 이색적인 목소리가 그 시절에도 강한 존재감이 있었음을 알 수 있다.

모든 곡을 천천히 들어보길 권하고, 시간이 없다면 6번트랙 Eloween Deowen 만이라도 꼭 들어보길 바란다.

저번에 한 차례 소개 한 바 있던 캐나다 출신의 레게락밴드 베두인 사운드클래쉬(Bedouin Soundclash)의 2번째 정규앨범, "Sounding A Mosaic"을 소개한다. 캐나다 전역에 10만장 이상의 판매고를 올린 이 앨범은 캐나다 음반 산업 협회로 부터 플래티넘을 인정받은 바 있고 2006년 미국 빌보드 레게 앨범 챠트에 최고 9위까지 올랐었다. 특히 1번 트랙 "When the Night Feels My Song"은 캐나다 싱글 차트 1위는 물론이고 영국에서는 T-Mobile 광고음악으로도 쓰였으며 UK 챠트 24위에 오를 정도로 많은 이들이 즐겨들은 곡이다. 밴드의 보컬과 기타를 맡고 있는 제이 말리노우스키(Jay Malinowski)는 퀘벡, 몬트리올에서 태어나 벤쿠버에서 자랐다. 그는 음악적 재능 뿐만아니라 미술적 재능 또한 있어 왁스와 오일을 이용한 유화를 주로 그리는데 이 앨범의 커버 또한 그의 작품이다. 2010년에는 솔로 싱글 또한 발매했다고 하니.. 완전 캐나다산 엄친아가 따로 없다.

2001년 캐나다의 Ontario, Kingston에 위치한 Queen's University에 재학중에 결성된 베두인 사운드클래쉬(Bedouin Soundclash)는 2001년에 Root Fire, 2004년에는 Sounding a Moasic, 2007년에 Street Gospels, 그리고 2010년에 Light The Horizon까지 4장의 정규 앨범을 냈다.(2009년에 발매된 EP앨범 Where Have All The Songs Played Gone To? 또한 있음) 공식홈페이지에 따라 그들의 장르를 구분하자면 팝과 락, 펑크와 레게의 조합이라 소개되어 있다. 베두인의 신보 Light The Horizon은 레게를 기반으로 했다기 보다는 레게를 가미한 느낌이 짙은 앨범이다. Reggae 음채가 짙지 않아 포스팅을 하지 말까.. 주저하기도 했지만 앨범 타이틀인 Mountain Top이 너무나도 듣기 좋아 포스팅한다.
