Stick Figure 이름 아래 활동하고 있는 Scott Woodruff가 혼자 손수 작업한 앨범.
One-Man Band라 할 수 있는데
그가 직접 여러 악기들을 연주하여 악기별로 따로 녹음한 음들을 붙여 작업했다고 한다.

과하게 억지로 내는 (통상 얘기하는) 레게식 느낌의 톤의 Vocal이 아닌
자기 목소리 나오는 그대로 자연스럽게 부르는 그의 Vocal도 매력적이다.

Gregory Isaacs - Cool Ruler

Reggae 음악 역사에 많은 자취와 흔적을 남긴..
남겨왔던 Gregory Isaacs이
2010년 10월 25일, 59세의 나이로 이 세상을 떠났다.

"Cool Ruler", "Lonely Lover"라는 애칭을 가지고 있는
Gregory는 생전 많은 앨범들을 작업해왔으며
Lovers Rock이라 칭하는 사랑타령 곡들을 불러왔다.

한 때는 코카인에 중독되기도 하였고
마약소지 및 등록되지 않은 총기류 소지 등으로
감방 살이도 해 본 경험이 있지만

Reggae 팬들에게는 가장 정교한 Vocalist 로
사랑받아왔다.
  
Gregory Isaacs은 1년 여동안 폐암과의 사투 끝에
생을 마감했기에 젊은 시절 마리화나로 보이는 담배를
태우는 모습이 담긴
좌측의 사진이 주는 인상이
매우 진하다.

고인의 명복을 빕니다.
Rest in Peace.

그에게 Cool Ruler라는 닉네임을 준 앨범,
1978년에 발매 된 Cool Ruler를 들어보자.

Jimmy Cliff

그의 음악 커리어동안 엄청난 양의 앨범을 쏟아 낸
다작 뮤지션 중의 한 명이자,
많은 곡들로 팬들에게 사랑을 받아온 지미 클리프는
레게를 대표 할 수 있는 뮤지션이라고도
할 수 있다.

1976년 11월, 그의 앨범 "Follow My Mind"를

영화 The Harder They Come의 OST 앨범.
영화 제작과 동시에 특별히 "The Harder They Come"을 녹음하고
거기에 Jimmy Cliff의 "You can get it if you really want", "Many rivers to cross", "sitting in limbo" 를 추가하고 그 당시에 발매된 싱글들을 모아서 발매하였다.

당시 레게라는 장르를 세계에 (특히 미국) 알리는데 큰 기여를 했고,
2003년에 Rolling Stone 매거진에서 발표한 "The 500 greatest albums of all time"에 119위를 기록했다.
